For the next four years Hearts failed to win any national trophies but they discovered a new player called Bobby Walker who was destined to become a star. In 1901 they won the Scottish cup for the third time. In the semi-final they defeated Hibs 2 1 in a replay and went on to meet Celtic in the final at Ibrox Park. In the final Bobby Walker gave a fantastic performance and lead the team to a thrilling 43 victory. Bobby Walker was now a regular Scotland internationalist and won a club record 29 caps. Many people regarded him as the best player in Europe at this time. |
